Lunch...

One of the highlights of many children at school is lunch (you may be thinking, why lunch, but it seems to be an exciting part of the day). Kindergartners will know be eating lunch. Here is the September lunch menu. Students will choose their lunch at the beginning of each day. If your child will be bringing money please place it in a zip-lock bag or a small container inside their bookbag. Also, you can prepay for lunches in the cafeteria to their account (this is the easiest way because the child does not need to worry about losing money. Transportation...

We are working on trying to make student drop-off and pick-up as smoothly as possible. One item we would like for you to do to help is to fill out a transportation form. Attached to this post is a form to help especially with the end of the day dismissal at WT. This particular form will also be available at Open House (Thursday, September 1st) in our office, and a link to the form is available from our website www.westcler.org/wt. If you would like to send the form to us by fax , our fax number is 752-6571.

The office would like to have this form on file before the first day of school, if at all possible.

If you have any questions, our office hours are 7:30 to 3:30 (943-6900) until the start of school.

Working Away...

I have been working in the classroom this week organizing materials and trying to figure out where everything is going to go. I always look forward to this part of the year to get into the classroom and start making some changes from the year prior. This is one of the great things I love about teaching is each year you get to have a fresh start. This is my chance to think back to the prior year and make changes for the upcoming year on lessons and ideas which worked and did not work. I will be in and out of school this next few weeks getting prepared. Check back for more updates on what is happening! I hope to see you on September 1st!

Drop-Off and Pick-Up...

As many of you are aware we will not be having bus transportation for children within a 2 mile radius of the school. I believe you should have received information regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures in your letter from Mrs. Schmidt outlining your child's teacher, supply list, and school calendar. Here is a drawing of our plan for drop-off and pick-up. School begins at 9 am (drop-off begins at 8:45) and concludes at 3:00. If you have any questions please feel free to call the office (943-6900) or email me and I will try and find an answer for you.

Less than A Month...

We have just less than a month before the first day of school. I cannot wait for this time because I am always eager to see the children and begin a journey of learning with them! I wanted to let you know that class lists are posted on the front door of the school. You will also be getting a letter from Mrs. Schmidt outlining some important information out Kindergarten. Please note which class you are in for kindergarten. You will be in Group A (Mon/Wed) or Group B (Tues/Thurs). We have tried to meet most requests and have tried to evenly mix each class by gender.

In addition, we have some supplies we are asking children to bring. Here is a list of supplies (please do not place your child's name on the supplies because we use community supplies; therefore, all children will use the supplies):

Required Items:

1 Box of Tissues

1 Box of Crayons

1 Package of Glue Sticks

1 Pair of Blunt Scissors

Optional Items:

Pencil Box/Pencil Bag

2 Packages of Pencils

1 Package of Dry Erase Materials

1 Yellow Highlighter

1 Large Eraser
